Alberta Seniors Assistance (Group 101)

The Dental Assistance for Seniors program (Group 101) is based on income and provides low- to moderate-income seniors with financial assistance for basic dental services that help maintain a reasonable level of health. To be eligible you must be 65 years of age or older; you must have resided in Alberta for at least 3 months immediately before applying; and you must be a Canadian citizen, or have been admitted into Canada for permanent residence (landed immigrant). Eligibility for senior's assistance programs is determined by using the prior year’s total household income as reported to Canada Revenue Agency. You could be eligible for up to a maximum of $5,000 of coverage for each dental procedure every 5 years under the dental program. There is a maximum amount of coverage for each dental procedure, and a specific number of times you can receive assistance for these procedures in the 5 year period. For full details about the seniors program you can call 1-877-644-9992, or visit www.seniors.alberta.ca, or contact our office at 780-476-2529.

There is no set fee a provider can charge for a service, so when choosing a provider it is important to ask if you (the patient) will be responsible for any extra costs (above what the program pays) for the service being provided, as enhancements are extra and not all procedures are covered. At Londonderry Denture Clinic, when you choose a basic service that is eligible under the program there is NO CHARGE to you. We simply direct the bill to the program so there is no money out of pocket to you.

Alberta Social Services

In accordance with an agreement with the College of Alberta Denturists, eligible adults receiving Income Support, Learner Income Support, and the Alberta Adult Health Benefit are covered for basic eligible dental procedures. These basic services are provided at NO CHARGE to the recipient, although enhancements or non-covered procedures are charged directly to the recipient and payable at the time of delivery. For complete details or pre-authorization of service contact our office at 780-476-2529.

Private or Company Dental Plans

There are a good number of private or company dental plans that provide coverage for eligible dental expenses. Typically these plans can cover anywhere from 50% to 100% of a maximum set by the insurance company for each procedure. Because these plans vary so much from one company to another, it is highly recommended that a pre-authorization of service be completed, so as to determine what your financial commitment will be to your dental provider. For complete details or pre-authorization of service contact our office at 780-476-2529.
